Since 1922, when the British cut off 77% of the area set aside by the League of Nations Mandate to re-establish Jewish sovereignty in their historic homeland – artificially creating the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, every “peace plan” – and there have been (too) many – has involved efforts aimed at shrinking the borders of the Jewish homeland.
This represented, and continues to represent a double injustice, as not only have these “peace plans” sought to take away the homeland of the only indigenous people to have had sovereignty within the Land of Israel in over 3,000 years – the ancient Hebrew nation, but adding insult to injury, these plans – up until today – have never had any chance of actually bringing about peace – because above all else, they were (are) being imposed by foreign powers who were (are) only seeking to pursue their own interests in the region – at the expense of Jews and Arabs alike, and in order for peace to be achieved, it must be built upon a foundation of justice.
Albert Einstein was once asked to define insanity. He responded, “Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.”
Well, it seems like all of this may finally be changing.
PJTV’s Andrew Klavan has proposed his own plan to bring peace to the region, calling it “The One-State Solution: Give the Middle East to the Jews” plan.
While I can’t say that I ascribe to all the details of Klavan’s plan, he does introduce two key elements which should be at the core of any future peace initiative – ideally one worked out directly between the inhabitants of this land, and without foreign intervention.
- Peace will not come about through shrinking the Jewish homeland. Such an act is not only unjust, but will lead to the destruction of the Jewish state.
- To the contrary, a peace based upon justice will only be achieved when the legal, moral and historic rights of the ancient Jewish people are recognized throughout the Land of Israel – and doing so will likely be a benefit to all the peoples of the region.
Without further ado, here is Klavan’s “The One-State Solution: Give the Middle East to the Jews” peace plan:
